A new sign in the window, at 377 Summer Street between Rosebud and Community Credit Union, invites people to sign up for email notifications at https://www.davissquaredonutsandbagels.com/ .

The shop was supposed to open last year, but never did.

The new Dunkin Donuts next to bfresh has a sign saying it will open this Thursday. I don't know what time it will open.

bfresh sent me a press release about its opening, which will happen this Friday at 9 am, "contingent on securing typical city permits and passing final inspections".

The Davis Square Starbucks is giving away "free tall handcrafted espresso beverages" from 1-2 pm this afternoon (Thursday, December 29).

Mem Tea is now open for business in the former Stellabella Toys location on Elm St. next to Harvard Square Eye and Diaper Lab.

Eater.com reports that "Plans for Davis Square Donuts and Bagels have been scrapped and the space appears to be up for lease with items in the store covered in plastic wrap." The shop was supposed to open in the Community Credit Union building, next to the Rosebud.

Sugidama, a new Japanese place serving house-made soba and itzakaya-grilled meats, soft-opened next to Davis Square Family Practice late last week. They're open for lunch & dinner starting this week.

Not too far from Davis, the Winter Hill Brewing Company opened today, serving Counter Culture coffee in the mornings. Their evening brewery opens

as of two days ago. Here's their new website, but it doesn't have a menu online. The main change seems to be the addition of grilled food. They still have frozen yogurt.

iYO Cafe has a sign saying it has been closed since last Monday 11/23 for renovations. When it reopens, it will be "iYO Bistro", which will still have froyo but will also have a grill. The people inside told me they expect to reopen 7 to 10 days from today.

I used to love iYo. Then, last year, new owners took over and expanded the menu, etc... I didn't care for the prepared foods but I liked that it was still recognizable as a yogurt shop. Then, Tuesday night, I stopped by and it appears the business is being overhauled yet again. I don't know if it changed hands again, but a new staff seems to be in ( Read more... )
